There is a tragic disease that seems to affect nearly every person in the United States in some way or another. Approximately every person knows someone, maybe even themselves, who has been hurt by this terrible ailment. What is it? Breast cancer. And it doesn't only attack women.
As of 2007, nearly 190,000 women were diagnosed with breast cancer and 41,000 of them lost their fight. Approximately 2,000 men received the same prognosis and 400 of them succumbed to the disease. Because this is such a wide spread ailment, there is a lot of investigate that is being done to learn how to accurate it or at least limits its deadliness.
The big cancer investigate organizations consist of the American Cancer community and the Mayo Clinic. There have also been some major cancer fundraising organizations pop up that help keep the big investigate groups. The biggest and most predominant is the Susan G Komen foundation.
Susan G Komen is most widely known for their races that they manufacture in every major city in the country. They have fun runs, 5k's, 10k's, marathons, and ultra marathons. They typically raise alot of money and alot of awareness with these events. Someone else of their favorite events is the Breast Cancer 3 Day walk that sees participants walking 60 miles over 3 days to show their keep for breast cancer research.
Many individuals or groups of habitancy will take raising money for breast cancer investigate upon themselves. One favorite and organized way of doing this is by participating in a Relay for Life event. Otherwise, the cancer investigate firms are all the time finding for donations and are incredibly appreciative when individuals or small groups make donations.
